DIVINE SERVICE

Every Sunday we celebrate the miracle of Christ's resurrection over death, the devil, and the grave. In the Divine Service, our worship is centered in God's action toward us in Jesus Christ. For this reason the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod calls these services "A Divine Service". It is "Divine" because, in this Service,GOD,THE DIVINE ONE revealed in Jesus Christ, comes to us through His
Word and Sacraments, and through these "means of grace" He conveys to us the free gifts of faith and forgiveness of sins, and "where there is forgiveness of sins, there is also life and salvation"

There are three main parts of the Divine Service. Descriptions of these are accessed by the links below. The descriptions refer to the legacy Missouri Synod Divine Service beginning on page184 of the Lutheran Service Book. Common to all three of these parts are one or more selections from the hymns or hymnody. More info about the hymns can be found here. Also common to the three parts of the Service are small red and black lettering. The red letters are called Rubrics (latin for "red"); they describe how the Service should be conducted. The black lettering are scripture refences for the different elements of the Service.
